Void Invaders is Space Invaders rebuilt as a neon roguelike.
The formation steps down the screen the way it always has, but every cleared wave lays out three upgrades and one of them is yours. Rapid fire, split shot, piercing rounds, homing, crits, shields, chain reactions. Own the right pair and they fuse: Split Shot and Piercing become a Railgun, Homing and Critical become Smart Missiles, eight combos in all. Every fifth wave is a boss - THE WARDEN, TWIN DIAMONDS, SPIRAL CORE, THE WALL and the MOTHERSHIP - and every boss after that comes back angrier.
Hold SHIFT to dash. You are untouchable for a moment, and every enemy shot you fly through is grazed: it vanishes, feeds your multiplier and gives the dash back sooner. Dashing into fire is the skilled play.
The mystery UFO crosses the top of the screen once every wave and always drops an item: Overdrive, Shield, Pulse, Stasis, Wingmen, Repair or an extra life. Clear a wave without a scratch for a perfect bonus. From wave 20 elites arrive - shielded, volatile, frenzied, brooding or regenerating - and the formation keeps getting tougher until it lands. Every run ends. The question is how far yours gets.
