## Description

Early beta. Project STICK is brand new and still being tuned. Found a bug or have an idea? Leave a comment on this page.

Grab a weapon. Knock everyone off the map.

Project STICK is a stick figure brawler for up to 8 players. Inked fighters scrap across 30 hand-drawn arenas, from chalkboards and comic pages to rooftops and outer space, with 30 weapons that run from a railgun to a leaf blower. Knock everyone out, or off the map, and be the last one standing. Win enough rounds and the match is yours.

- 1 to 8 fighters online. Bots fill every empty seat.
- 30 weapons: 17 guns, 7 melee weapons and 6 gadgets
- 30 arenas across 11 worlds, with lava, spikes, saws and moving platforms
- Punch, kick, block and deflect. Throw anything.
- 7 round twists, from Low Gravity to Big Heads
- Level up and unlock 48 cosmetics that everyone can see
- Host your own lobby with your own rules

30 weapons. Most of them are a bad idea.

Weapons turn up around the arena all round long. Walk over one to pick it up, and when it runs dry, throw it: a thrown weapon hits harder than anything else, and harder still on the head.

- Railgun: pierces through everyone in a line.
- Ricochet: bullets bounce off everything, even the sky. Including into you.
- Singularity: opens a black hole that swallows everything, then pops.
- Harpoon Gun: reels whoever it hits straight to you.
- Leaf Blower: barely scratches. Blows people right off the map.
- Jetpack: straps to your back so you can fly until it runs dry.
- Katana: every slash dashes you forward.
- Sledgehammer: slow. Sends people into orbit.

Plus pistols, shotguns, a minigun you can hover on, rockets you can ride, grenades, a bow, shuriken, a freeze ray, a tesla gun, an anti-gravity gun, a grappling hook, a teleport gun and more.

Fists first

No weapon? Your hands are one.

- Punch: punches pull you along your aim. Aim up for an uppercut that hops you higher.
- Kick: in the air you kick instead, diving down or lifting up.
- Block: hold right mouse to block where you aim, as long as your guard lasts.
- Deflect: tap block just before a melee hit lands and the attacker can't attack for 2 seconds.
- Send it back: hold block to turn shots around, back where you aim.

Wall-jump, fast fall, lie flat to dodge shots, and drop through platforms to get away.

30 arenas, 11 worlds

Fight on a notebook page, across a desk, on a chalkboard, a blueprint or a comic book, then take it to the rooftops, a volcano, outer space, a dojo, a forest or a harbor. Space has low gravity. Lava, spikes, saws and moving platforms are waiting, and the edge of the map is always closer than it looks. Between rounds, everyone votes on where to fight next.

Round twists. Some rounds change the rules: Low Gravity, Big Heads, Glass Cannons, Weapon Rain, Fists Only, Speed Rush or Heavy Hitters. Big Heads means enormous heads. That's it. That's the twist.

Make them yours

Every fight earns XP. Level up to unlock 20 hats, 13 face items and 15 trails, then wear them into battle: everyone in the lobby sees what you've got on. 16 achievements track your best moments, and some unlock gear you can't get any other way. Three daily challenges reset every day.

Better with friends

Start a game and your friends can find it in the lobby browser, or join one that's already going.

- Up to 8 fighters: bots fill every empty seat and step aside the moment a player joins.
- Bots that fight back: they climb, wall-jump, grab jetpacks and turn your shots back on you.
- Chat: press Enter or T.
- Built for online play: your own fighter has zero input lag, and hits are checked with lag compensation.

Your lobby, your rules

The host sets up the match: rounds to win, round twists, lives per round, game speed and gravity, health, fighter size, move speed, jump height and knockback, which weapons turn up and how often, which maps are in the rotation, and how many bots (easy, normal or hard).

Controls

- A / D: move
- Space or W: jump (push into a wall to wall-jump; with a jetpack, jump again to fly)
- S: fast fall in the air, lie flat on the floor
- S S: drop through a floating platform
- Left click: attack (bare-handed: punch, or kick in the air)
- Right click: block. Tap it to deflect, hold it to send shots back
- G: throw your weapon
- Hold Tab: scoreboard
- Enter or T: chat
- H: hide the controls panel
- Esc: menu (settings, Locker, Profile, Achievements, lobby settings)

Made by devpax

Every fighter, arena, weapon and sound effect in Project STICK is made in code. There isn't a single art or sound file in the game. It is designed and directed by devpax and built with a lot of help from AI (Claude), which wrote most of the code and made the art, the sound and the trailer.

Pick up a pen. Pick a fight. See you in the margins.

- Orbital Ring – Space: platforms orbit a space station on two rings in low gravity

- Crossbow – a fast, flat bolt for 80 damage

- Time Gun – freezes whoever it hits in a bubble of stopped time for 3 seconds
- Time Grenade – a ticking pocket watch that bursts into five bubbles of stopped time
- Extra Life – a heart pickup that gives you one more life this round, whatever you're holding
- Time bubbles – fighters, bodies, rockets, grenades, arrows and loose weapons freeze inside and carry on when time starts again
- Frozen hits – hits on a frozen fighter still count, and all the knockback lands at once when time restarts
- Prone block – raise your guard while lying down, deflects included
- Low jab – attack bare-handed while lying flat to hit fighters who are down too
- Shotgun pogo – shoot at the floor to bounce yourself up
- Crushing – a falling tree, domino, dropped block or stamp that pins you is lethal
- Game mode presets – Normal, Chaos, Slow mode, Fast mode, Big boy, Small boy and Fun mode, each with its own weapon settings
- Unselect all – switch every weapon off in the weapon list, then pick the ones you want, and none at all means fists only
- That's you aura – your fighter burns with a super-power aura in your colour during the countdown and the first 5 seconds
- Locker live preview – your stick figure shows off what you've picked, and hovering any item tries it on
- Pickup tips – picking up a weapon shows a line about what it does
- Corner blasts – falling out of a corner of the screen fires a diagonal blast from that corner
- Rate the game – a button on the title screen and Esc menu that opens the game's page to like, favourite and review it
- Suggest an idea – send ideas, bugs and weapon or map requests straight to the developer from the title screen or Esc menu

**Improved**

- Melee reach – punches, kicks and melee weapons reach exactly as far as they look and scale with player size
- Rockets – a direct hit explodes on the target for the full 100 damage
- Minigun – bullets are now fat white-hot slugs racing down the tracer
- Teleport Gun – blinks you through one-way and thin platforms and lands you on top
- Gold God Gun – now fires a single explosive God shell instead of a laser, with a deep cannon boom
- Difficulty – easy bots aim wide and react slowly, while hard bots aim true, guard, dodge rockets, lead moving targets and go prone under fire
- New tricks – bots grab Extra Lives, swing the Cyber Katana at incoming fire, and ride and avoid the moving parts on the physics arenas
- Weapon and map lists – fit all 39 weapons and items and all 50 maps
- Health bars – show your HP number, with splits that follow the lobby's max health

**Fixed**

- Add and Remove bot – the buttons did nothing because auto-fill put the bots straight back
- Winning bots – no longer jump off the map between rounds
- Point-blank rockets – no longer fly through the person you're aiming at
- Rocket self-kills – your own rocket can't kill you if it hit someone else first
- Picking up weapons – weapons now fire straight away instead of waiting out the punch timer
- Fallen tree – bodies were split in half under it instead of being crushed
- Outlines – no longer drift off moving objects on the physics arenas

**Known issues**

- Laggy overlaps – with a lot of lag, two fighters' bodies can overlap for a moment
- Station ceiling – with the Low Gravity twist or a jetpack you can end up on top of Station's ceiling, out of view, and the edge arrow shows where you are
- Moving platforms – on Scribble Pit and Crane, bots only ride a platform across the gap when one is close, otherwise they wait or take the high route
